About this Training
PCA 101: Foundations - Primary Care Advancement for Value-Based Care
This course provides an awareness-level orientation to value-based care agreements within NCQA’s Primary Care Advancement program. Learners are introduced to current value-based care agreement concepts, including prospective payment, shared savings, shared risk, capitation, attribution, quality measures, risk adjustment, health-related social needs and operational requirements for primary care transformation.
The course focuses on shared language, common agreement terms, basic performance expectations and how value-based care concepts relate to everyday primary care workflows. It does not teach learners how to analyze full contract structures, negotiate agreements or build advanced financial risk models.
What You Will Learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Compare shared savings, shared risk and capitation.

Define attribution, quality measures and risk adjustment at a basic level.

Translate contract terms into operational requirements and workflows.

Build a basic performance monitoring plan and identify key contract risks and mitigations.
