NCQA Health Accreditation supports health care organizations in evaluating and elevating the health of the populations they serve. This course will provide health plans an overview of Health Equity Accreditation, outline steps for getting started with the submission process, discuss ways to ensure survey readiness and identify challenges and how they can be addressed. The course will also summarize updates for the newly released HEDIS® MY 2023, including measures to which race and ethnicity stratification was added and a new measure of social needs screening and intervention.

Amelia Bedri, MSHA
Amelia Bedri is currently a Program Content Engineer, Product Development at the National Committee for Quality Assurance. In this position, Ms. Bedri works collaboratively to organize the direction, structure and delivery of NCQA’s Accreditation and Certification Standards and Guidelines, from concept to launch. Ms. Bedri has led the development cycle for NCQA’s Health Equity Accreditation program and acts as the subject matter expert for the product. As part of the development cycle, Ms. Bedri employs an iterative framework when drafting standards which includes continuous engagement with NCQA advisory committees, customers, and other stakeholders to inform market need, content specification and determine standard feasibility.
Prior to this role, Ms. Bedri was a Policy Manager, Accreditation Policy where she served as the product and context expert for designated Accreditation products and was responsible for providing clarification of content-specific issues for internal and external customers. This role allowed Ms. Bedri to gain a thorough understanding of how to interpret NCQA Accreditation Standards and Guidelines, the product development and maintenance cycle, and the importance of customer input.
Prior to joining NCQA, Ms. Bedri worked as the lead researcher for MedStar Health Corporation in Washington, DC, in the development of their community health needs assessment. Ms. Bedri was responsible for performing research, analyzing primary and secondary data, leading community engagement meetings, and providing recommendations for hospital resource allocation.
Ms. Bedris’ experience in the health care industry is unique, she has held numerous positions in a variety of settings: from the hospital environment to managed care, with personal home care agencies and consulting for start-ups, health systems and state health departments.
Ms. Bedri earned her MHSA from Georgetown University and graduated with summa cum laude.
Keirsha Thompson, MSW
Keirsha Thompson is a Manager in Performance Measurement with the National Committee for Quality Assurance. She received her master’s in social service administration (social work) from the University of Chicago, where she focused on health administration and policy. Ms. Thompson enjoys supporting and advocating for medical beneficiaries through an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses health care quality measurement, social work and public policy. Her passions include women's health, Native American and African American healthcare and equitable access to mental health resources. Her current work focuses on leveraging quality measures to advance health equity.
