Defining and Actualizing the ROI of being a Patient Centered Medical Home
This course is a discussion about the expected return on investment for becoming a PCMH. Faculty will highlight different ways to define ROI through the eyes of various stakeholders, including patients, staff, funders and the community. Strategies will focus on critical criteria in the PCMH framework that can have the greatest impact on stakeholders, although some elective criteria are at the heart of the PCMH concept. This course will also cover strategies for making patient-centered processes a cultural practice and not just an annual task. Faculty will also describe how to ensure that PCMH is core to an organization's quality program.

Shannon Nielson, MHA, PCMH CCE
Shannon is one of the owners of CURIS Consulting and Principal Consultant. Prior to launching CURIS Consulting, Shannon has had over 18 years of experience working with health centers, hospitals, PCAS and HCCNs to enhance clinical, operational, and financial performance. Shannon was Chief Operating Officer and Sr. Vice President of Consulting for Centerprise, Inc. from 2014-2018. During this time Shannon built a nationally recognized consulting group focused on improving the overall performance, compliance, and sustainability of community health centers. Shannon has completed over 200 NCQA PCMH transformations, performance assessments on over 150 community health centers, and assisted networks in developing clinically integrated networks. Shannon has or currently serves as interim CQO, CIO and COO for health centers.
Shannon is a regularly sought-after national expert and public speaker. Shannon is the author of the National Association of Community Health Center’s Population Health Management Guidebook, Board Quality Training Modules, and COVID Response for Board of Director’s White Papers.
Having spent her entire career in the community health center environment, Shannon has an extensive knowledge or FQHCs and the regulatory requirements for community health centers.
Prior to beginning consulting work, Shannon worked as the Director of Decision Support for Ohio’s largest FQHC from 2002-2012. During this time, Shannon led the operational and clinical reporting for over 15 sites. She developed algorithms to assist practices in operational, clinical, and EHR workflows.
Shannon has her Bachelor’s in Health Services Administration from Georgetown University and her Master’s in Health Administration from Xavier University.
