HEDIS Specifications Redesigned for the Digital Quality Future

In this session, NCQA will share information about how the HEDIS measure specifications are evolving to support the future of digital quality measurement. NCQA will introduce the new HEDIS measure specification template and review the planned timeline for when key changes to HEDIS Volume 2 will be implemented. We want to hear from you! This session will also include time for questions and getting feedback from attendees about what they think of these changes.

Cindy Ottone

Cindy Ottone, MHA

Cindy Ottone is Director of Policy Measures in Performance Measurement at NCQA. She supports the development and implementation of HEDIS and other NCQA measures. Ms. Ottone represents the policy perspective on several NCQA projects, including Measure Advisory Panels, the Audit Methodology Panel and HEDIS Data Submission. She also supports areas where NCQA measures are used in other organizations’ programs including, QRS/Exchanges, the CHIPRA Core Set, QPP and NQF.

Prior to working at NCQA, Ms. Ottone was assigned to quality measurement and improvement at Companion HealthCare, a Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO. While at Companion, Ms. Ottone focused her efforts on HEDIS measurement and reporting, Disease Management Programs, and Quality Improvement Activities in both the clinical and operations areas. Ms. Ottone has also worked in large provider practices with their billing systems and strategic planning.

Cindy. Ottone received her Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She received a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina, School of Public Health. Ms. Ottone is on the Board of Trustees at Palmetto Richland Hospital and has previously served as adjunct faculty at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and University of South Carolina School of Public Health. Currently, Ms. Ottone serves her community as a Trustee on the Richland Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and the Prisma Health Midlands Board of Directors.

 

Anne Smith

Anne Smith, MHA

Anne Smith is an Assistant Vice President in Performance Measurement at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). She assists in annual updates for the electronic clinical quality measures (eCQM) used in CMS programs and oversees the annual production of HEDIS products, including the digital measure packages. Prior to joining NCQA, Ms. Smith was Project Analyst at UnitedHealthCare, where she worked to ensure data validity as a liaison between research sponsors and programming staff and managed the integration of data and production of HEDIS reports for UnitedHealthCare health plans. In addition, she participated in several NCQA committees, including the Technical Advisory Group and the Audit Methodology Panel. She holds a BS in Nursing from St. Olaf College and a Masters in Health Administration, with an emphasis in Health Informatics, from the University of Phoenix.
